The artist is nothing without the gift, but the gift is nothing without work. – Emile Zola

Marketing:

In 1987, we couldn’t find anyone to represent one of our own programs with the same enthusiasm we felt for it, so Murray Street Productions got into the marketing business for radio. We worked with stations to build a carriage list that our underwriters could be sure of, and with our producers to make our programs more useful to stations. Other independents heard about our work and soon we were introducing such programs as Sounds of Science, Afropop and Selected Shorts to public radio.

We are proud to have been marketer and station liaison for Pulse of the Planet, The DNA Files with John Hockenberry, Fresh Air with Terry Gross, Jazz at Lincoln Center Radio, the World Music Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Each program has different requirements. We work directly with producers, stations, and underwriters. We collaborate with NPR, and other distribution channels to develop cost effective marketing plans. Our comprehensive database lets us effectively target telemarketing to public stations. Clients can rely on our market research, timelines, budgets, key strategies, and implementation. We are also proud to consult in these areas through the AIR Mentor program. If you are considering offering programs for public radio, whatever your budget, talk with us at Murray Street. Call Steve Rathe at 800 793 1673.
